Educator Yvonne Wolf gives a brief background on the ancient practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine, including three main principles of its purpose. She will relate this ancient study to Western traditions and introduce 5 common roots and herbs that are meaningful and useful in Chinese Traditional Medicine such as ginger, ginseng, and licorice. She will show samples of these common herbs and roots in their dried forms. If you have been curious but not quite confident about trying Chinese herbal medicine, this presentation will be the first step towards an alternative path to health. This presentation will be followed by a tea tasting.
About the speaker: Intercultural consultant and educator, Yvonne Wolf, delivers presentations that clarify the elements of Chinese culture in an accessible, relatable context. She has given talks at libraries, museums, and community centers. Yvonne's thoughtful consideration serves to enrich her entertaining presentations. Yvonne is an intercultural consultant and founder of Chinese Intercultural, LLC. She offers professional intercultural training, helps businesses to expand their outreach, and shares the knowledge and skills she has acquired. Yvonne has lived in four different countries and is fluent in Chinese-Mandarin, English, and Danish. She was born in Taiwan, educated in the US and Europe, and is a native Chinese speaker.

The 1501 Ellinwood Street library building is the realization of a longheld dream of the library board, staff and community partners. Located in the heart of downtown Des Plaines, the four story, 82,000 square foot building represents the community's commitment to reading, lifelong learning, and a center for family activities. A grand central staircase and large windows provide a wealth of natural light and illuminate the building at night.
