The 2023 theme is "Together We Shine." The community is what makes our parade so special, with representation from organizations all throughout Des Plaines. This beloved tradition includes community floats, live music and strolling entertainment. The parade is a great way to enjoy the holiday with neighbors and is fun for the whole family. We are eager to celebrate with you all!
The parade will step off at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4, at the intersection of Center Street and Wicke Avenue.
The parade will proceed north on Center to Prairie Ave., will head east on Prairie and then disbands at Prairie and Pearson St. Please note that the roads in the immediate area may be closed to accommodate parade traffic. We appreciate your patience and look forward to seeing you there!

The 1501 Ellinwood Street library building is the realization of a longheld dream of the library board, staff and community partners. Located in the heart of downtown Des Plaines, the four story, 82,000 square foot building represents the community's commitment to reading, lifelong learning, and a center for family activities. A grand central staircase and large windows provide a wealth of natural light and illuminate the building at night.
