For families with children of all ages. 

Celebrate Children's Book Week with us by enjoying a performance of the story the Children's Literature Association named “the best American children’s book of the past two hundred years.”

Charlotte’s Web is the story of a pig named Wilbur and his friendship with a spider named Charlotte. When Wilbur is in danger of being slaughtered by the farmer, Charlotte writes messages praising Wilbur (such as "Some Pig") in her web in order to persuade the farmer to let him live. 
Registration required. All who are attending must register. Des Plaines residents can register by visiting the Youth Services Desk or calling 847-376-2839 beginning April 15. Des Plaines Library cardholders can register themselves online beginning April 15. Any remaining openings will become available to all patrons to register by phone, at the library, or online beginning April 22.

The 1501 Ellinwood Street library building is the realization of a longheld dream of the library board, staff and community partners. Located in the heart of downtown Des Plaines, the four story, 82,000 square foot building represents the community's commitment to reading, lifelong learning, and a center for family activities. A grand central staircase and large windows provide a wealth of natural light and illuminate the building at night.
