4th Floor Forum

Discover how today’s most popular apps can make everyday tasks easier than ever! Join Tony LaPalio, Founder and CEO of Senior Tech Support, for an engaging and practical presentation on how to use your smartphone to simplify your life—whether you need a ride across town, a bag of groceries delivered to your door, or dinner from your favorite restaurant without picking up the phone.

In this session, Tony will introduce you to the world of rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft, showing how easy it is to safely and confidently book a ride without needing to drive. Then, we’ll dive into grocery delivery services such as Instacart and Amazon Fresh—learn how to shop for groceries from the comfort of your home and have them delivered directly to your doorstep. Finally, we’ll explore restaurant delivery apps like DoorDash, Grubhub, and Uber Eats, so you can enjoy meals from your favorite local spots with just a few taps.

Whether you’re new to using apps or just want a refresher, this presentation will walk you through step-by-step how to download, set up, and use each app safely and efficiently. We’ll also cover payment security, tips for avoiding scams, and how to read reviews and track deliveries.

By the end of the session, you’ll feel more empowered and confident using these modern tools to save time, increase convenience, and stay independent. Don’t miss this opportunity to embrace the apps that are changing daily life for the better!

About

The 1501 Ellinwood Street library building is the realization of a longheld dream of the library board, staff and community partners. Located in the heart of downtown Des Plaines, the four story, 82,000 square foot building represents the community's commitment to reading, lifelong learning, and a center for family activities. A grand central staircase and large windows provide a wealth of natural light and illuminate the building at night.
