Do you have stories to tell? Are there memories that you would like to share with your friends and family?
This six-week workshop is designed to translate past events into cohesive stories. Each week we will write several stories from prompts meant to stir memories that were important parts of your life story. After the program ends participants can continue to add to their memoirs by following the exercises in the workbook (as well as other writing sources from the library).
Past participants found this program to be meaningful, both writing their stories and also the act of sharing them with others in the workshop. Those who complete the workshop will receive a printed booklet of their writing to share with friends and family.
The 1501 Ellinwood Street library building is the realization of a longheld dream of the library board, staff and community partners. Located in the heart of downtown Des Plaines, the four story, 82,000 square foot building represents the community's commitment to reading, lifelong learning, and a center for family activities. A grand central staircase and large windows provide a wealth of natural light and illuminate the building at night.
