We're more than just books!  Come see our collection of Things for all ages and interests.  These are fun and useful items you can check out with your library card and take home to enjoy.  This collection is great for those who need or want to try something without having to buy or store it.

Participants who visit and try various items can enter into a drawing for a Nintendo Switch Lite.

Just a few examples of ways you can use this collection:

Want to convert VHS home movies to DVD?

Maybe you'd like your child to play AND learn with a discovery kit?

Borrow our projector and screen for a movie night.

Ever wanted to try playing guitar or ukulele?

Are you planning a fun outing you'd like to record with an action camera?

Look at the stars with our tabletop telescope!

Try an electronic magnifier or other assistive technology, before deciding whether to purchase one.

Borrow some framed art, AND a laser level to hang it with.

All this and much more!

About

The 1501 Ellinwood Street library building is the realization of a longheld dream of the library board, staff and community partners. Located in the heart of downtown Des Plaines, the four story, 82,000 square foot building represents the community's commitment to reading, lifelong learning, and a center for family activities. A grand central staircase and large windows provide a wealth of natural light and illuminate the building at night.
