Leo Karris has a BA in Biology-Environmental Studies, a Master of Environmental Management, and a Master of Public Ministry with a concentration in Ecological Regeneration. He has been working in environmental management for over 30 years and has developed a passion for reinvigorating his local environment. Join him as he takes you through how he cultivated his own backyard into a fertile garden and oasis for local animals. Get a better understanding of how you can help to develop your local environment to make it more hospitable for plants and pollinators. Get an idea of best practices, what plants to cultivate, and strategies you can use year-round to improve the land around you.

The 1501 Ellinwood Street library building is the realization of a longheld dream of the library board, staff and community partners. Located in the heart of downtown Des Plaines, the four story, 82,000 square foot building represents the community's commitment to reading, lifelong learning, and a center for family activities. A grand central staircase and large windows provide a wealth of natural light and illuminate the building at night.
